Breast Milk Pump

About Me

How I began and where I’m headed...

Hi! I'm Dr. Colette, and I'm a double-boarded physician and lactation consultant. I also have 3 children who I breastfed for a total of over 50 months through my training, worldwide travel, backpacking, and the COVID pandemic!

I am passionate about using a holistic approach which combines my 10 years of experience with evidence-based lactation guidance and a big-picture focus on mom's mental health and happiness, whole family and community support.

Since 2012, I’ve been helping my clients with their lactation journey by providing the guidance and resources needed to understand the root cause of their issues and develop a plan that works for them both physically and emotionally. As an MD and IBCLC, I aim to create a life balance that prioritizes everyone’s wellbeing and strengthens the bonds within your family.

I became interested in Lactation Consulting when I was working as a resident physician at UCLA, after having my first baby in 2010. Before that, I had no idea how much I would have to learn about breastfeeding and pumping in order to provide my baby with breastmilk! I started talking with other residents who recently had babies and became a sort of informal advisor and mentor for other new moms.

I decided I wanted to get further certification and training beyond my MD degree, so I certified as a CLC in 2015, followed by my IBCLC certification in 2020.

Now I have 3 children and I support moms in my community through not only my private lactation business, but also in my practice as an ER physician and by mentoring and advising new moms in my workplace. I help them as they go through the process of learning to breastfeed their newborns, everyone from office staff to nurses and other doctors. I am also a moderator for a local volunteer breastfeeding support group at Breastfeeding USA, in Torrance, CA.

My goal is to help as many moms and babies as I can, but also help create a more supportive community of women, families, and employers who respect and support breast feeding moms in every way.

I would be honored to join you in your breastfeeding journey!
